On Jan 17th 2010 6 Italian Greyhounds came into this world while in the garage of a home in Southern California. A wonderful friend of ours volunteered to pick up not only the 6 puppies and mama but Dad and another IG who had been used for breeding as well. On Jan 18th 2010 all 9 Italian Greyhounds arrived in Modesto California. Here are the babies! & now you can follow them here.

That goes out this week with a hefty price tag of $400. If you would like to contribute to that fee please email me trinity@kindredcanines.org or simply click on the donate button to the left and specify (501) in the donation line (every penny counts in rescue) & don't forget, once our 501(c) 3 number comes in EVERYTHING you donate is tax deductible. Sierra's story: Passers by witnessed a man throw out 4 puppies and a mama dog from his vehicle. Animal Control was able to capture the 4 puppies who were about 6 weeks and went directly to rescue however mama eluded AC for the next couple of weeks.
When the AC officer first spotted Sierra she had 4 healthy uninjured legs. By the time they caught her 2 weeks later she had only three. They did have a sighting of her 2-3 days prior to her capture that had her with only three legs and bleeding so her leg had been amputated while she was on the run and she survived 2-3 DAYS before AC was finally able to catch her. They suspect she was caught in some sort of trap the severed the leg clean off. Had the wound been jagged she would not have had a chance on her own.
New beginnings for animals foundation became involved at that point and had her taken to Dr. McFadden and Valley animal hospital in Merced. Dr. McFadden did a beautiful job fixing up Sierra's leg (as you can see in the pictures), Thank You Dr. McFadden and New Beginnings for animals. Once her surgery was over and she was cleared to leave the pet hosp we happily volunteered to take her in.
